NZSL

What?
Today for ELT we learnt about the use of interpreters which allows deaf people to converse within the hearing world.

So what?
It made me realise how difficult it is for a deaf child to look at the interpreter all day and that they need to take a break.

Now what?
Practice doing an activity using ear plugs together with background sounds.
Strategies we use to get the other person to understand were getting in closer; speaking louder; making eye contact;  using actions.
It is important to get student's attention before talking to them; learning to sign to make connections with deaf learners; ask them open-ended questions; learn sign language; integrating sign language into our programme and having an inclusive school environment.

PB4L

What?
Today for our ELT day we had a PB4L session.

So what?
We learnt about the "being  #oresome" matrix.

Now what?
I will unpack the matrix in my habitat.  I will also display what the learners co-construct with me and refer to it in order to reinforce and shape the learner’s expectations.

Maths Progressions

What? Today for ELT we learnt how to use the Maths progressions.

So What? I am going to use this in the teaching of my Maths lessons to help me to know where the learners are at in their Maths.

Now what? I will use it to decide what their next learning steps are.

Below is a powerpoint to share my learning.

TESOL Studies

Talofa lava! During the summer holidays I did a paper called "Introduction to Samoan language for teaching". It was really useful as it made me realise how difficult it is for second language learners to learn a different language. Below is presentation that I did for one of my assignments which was the teaching of a Samoan song.
